Whitehorse Industries have been specialising in stainless steel spinning for over 50 years. There is a certain art to forming/spinning stainless steel and we think we have mastered the art of it. There are pro's and con's in choosing whether or not you will need stainless steel spinning for your application/usage.
Pro's would be:
Con's would be:
304/316/316L/321
We have also spun Inconel, but this material doesn't have great drawability, so it is not able to be spun/formed very far, eg. no deeper that 75mm to 90mm. With spinning stainless steel, we’re accustomed to the steel becoming ‘work hardened’, therefore there will be a yield point where the material will start to stress and deform, so the 1st operation is stopped and then the material is vacuum annealed, a process of heat treatment that stress relieves/normalises the material back to a workable material. Sometimes a spinning may require 4 to 5 of these processes. Thickness of these different grades and finishes of stainless steel can be from .55mm up to 5mm thick. In the end, the product will always finish to the customer’s requirements specifications. |
